What We Believe

Our Beliefs

  • We believe in The Triune God, one Creator and sustainer of the universe. God who is holy love and light is Triune in essential being, revealed as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • We believe in the personhood and deity of Jesus Christ. -That he died for our sins, and that He truly arose from the dead, took again His body, wherein He ascended into heaven and is there engaged in intercession for us.

  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, that the Spirit is ever present and efficiently active in and with the Church of Christ, convincing the world of sin, regenerating those who repent and believe, sanctifying believers, and guiding into all truth as it is in Jesus.

  • We believe that Holy Scripture, Old and New Testaments, is God’s inspired and relevant Word containing all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

  • We believe everyone has done wrong or bad things and needs God’s grace and forgiveness, which does, and will, come through Jesus’ death on the cross. In other words, the rest of your days could be the best of your days.

  • We believe God’s grace draws us to Himself but the decision to respond is ours.

  • We believe an individual must turn from a lifestyle of doing bad things, sinning, and trust Christ for forgiveness and eternal life.

  • We believe that as Christians we are called to offer our whole lives to God, in a moment of surrender, followed by a lifetime and lifestyle of obedience to His leading. In response to a willingness to offer ourselves to Him, God cleanses our hearts from the attitude of sin. With our lives given to God, His Spirit can mold us to become like Christ, evidenced by His Love at work in our attitudes and actions.

  • We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, carrying on His purposes in the world. We believe God can bring healing; physical, emotional, and spiritual.

  • We believe Jesus will one day return to take His followers home to heaven.

  • We practice the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, not to keep rituals, but to know and worship Christ. “Love God, Love Others… Life Together, Light of the World.”

Core Values

AFCN’s vision and mission are supported by our core values: Word, Prayer, Fellowship, and Community. Our core values answer the question, why do we do what we do? Values represent what we are passionate about and drive our ministries.

The first century Christian church owned and modeled a clear set of core values. “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of the bread and to prayer.” (Acts 2:42, NIV). These values provided for them a constant in an environment constantly in flux. At AFCN, we too value ministry of the Word, living prayer, active fellowship, and engagement with community. Our core values serve to strengthen and equip us in our faith walk with Christ building meaningful relationships.

Collectively, AFCN’s Mission, Vision, and Values are centered on the foundation of the Great Commandment: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-39). We strive to honor this Command by encouraging everyone to commit to responsible living demonstrating Christ-like love to everyone, everywhere.
